Fawlty Towers documentary captures Torquay heritage

London-based documentary team Tiger Productions have been in Torquay filming The Story of Fawlty Towers. (From D+CFilm)

Tiger said the show will be ‘a complete and comprehensive look at the classic sitcom with interviews and insight from all the leading cast and crew as well as previously unseen footage and a countdown of the best moments’. It’s due to be screened on UK Gold later in the year.

Brain Shone and Terry Taylor, who now own the Gleneagles Hotel, the inspiration for the hotel in the series, were interviewed, and will be holding a look-alike contest at the hotel on March 21 for Basil, wife Sybil and Manuel – we don’t know if this has anything to do with the show.
