“Work needed — Will do any job” job seeker goes to A39 layby to find work
Daniel John has set up stall in a layby on the A39 to try to gain employment after unsuccessfully applying for 250 jobs in the past three months to support his wife and two children.
According to thisisnorthdevon, he moved to Barnstaple with a promise of a job with a security firm. The firm folded, and he’s been unemployed since.
Daniel said: “The job centre locally has been no help to me. Even though I have applied for more than 250 jobs, they say I’m not making enough effort.
“I said, ‘What do you want me to do, get a sign and sit by the side of the road?’
“They said yes, so here I am.
“I plan to stay here until someone offers me a job.”
