Devon and Somerset Fire Chief Lee Howell from Kennford is aiming to get to the Arctic Pole when he joins explorer Jim McNeill and 23 others in a bid to get to one of the most inaccessible places on earth.
Intensive training took place on Dartmoor, with further training planned for Norway in January before the expedition proper beings on February 20, 2010.
Lee is planning to raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity, which supports injured firefighters and their families, visit the Just Giving website. He is also looking to hear from corporate sponsors.
