Devon councils praised by Audit Commission – exceptional performance on climate change and domestic violence
The Audit Commission has praised public sector authorities in Devon for their exceptional performance in helping people tackle climate change, and in their support of people affected by domestic violence.
The commission, which annually assesses public sector performance, has awarded Devon two green flags in this year’s new way of reporting. The coveted green flags are awarded as examples of exceptional performance and innovation.
Picked out for specific praise is Devon’s awareness raising to tackle climate change, which, the Audit Commission reports, has resulted in reduced carbon emissions and one of the highest levels of recycling in the country.
Also ‘green flagged’ by the Audit Commission are the county’s services supporting people affected by domestic violence
