Sign of the times: parking permit woe in Newton Abbot

Newton Abbot resident Alison Lee has paid £640 in fines from parking near her home, despite having a parking permit.

“I come home from work at around 11.30pm and the road is chocker with cars. Many don’t have permits but still park in the permit zones. I can’t win. I then have to park on double yellow lines and get a ticket – which I have done – or I drive back into town and pay to park in a car park,” she told the Mid-Devon Advertiser.

A spokesperson from Teignbridge Council said: “We appreciated residents’ frustration when people flout the rules. We are grateful that they are vigilant in letting us know about illegal parking and will respond when resources allow.”
