Newton Abbot to become an official cycling hub
Newton Abbot will become an official ‘cycle hub’ of Devon on Saturday, April 17.
The event will be marked by the county council’s second cycling fun day in Devon, at Newton Abbot Racecourse from 10am to 4pm.
Devon County Council has been awarded a £2 million grant from Cycling England to promote leisure cycling. As well as Newton Abbot, the county council is creating cycling “hubs” in Barnstaple, Exeter, Exmouth, and Tavistock, where the aim is to improve access to local cycle networks and increase levels of cycling. Fun days will be held at each of the hub towns with the aim of getting people on their bikes.
The next cycle fun days will be held at:
Saturday 24 April – Tavistock, The Meadows.
Monday 3 May – Barnstaple, Rock Park.
Saturday 29 May – Exmouth, King George V Playing Fields.
A new website has been launched to support the campaign at: www.cycledevon.info
