Uncovering Exeter's glow worms and moths

Nature enthusiasts in Exeter have the chance to see the secret world of night-time creatures by joining the council’s countryside ranger on Saturday, July 17.

Meeting at Pinhoe Church car park, the event will begin at 9pm and end at about 10.30pm. Warm clothes and torches are required for the night time watch and short walk in the churchyard.

Cllr Kevin Mitchell, lead councillor for Environment and Leisure said: “So many of these fascinating creatures exist unnoticed in our local environment. This is a great chance to see the amazing beauty of glow worms and moths. It may even be possible to spot some bats and owls.

“This chance should be cherished as these species are becoming rarer. Pinhoe Church graveyard is the only known place in Exeter to house glow worms, their scarcity is very real.”
