Budget is good news for North Devon says MP
People will be paying less at the petrol pump, on their tax bill and high water bills should come down; that’s the message from local Lib Dem MP, Nick Harvey.
Speaking after the Budget was announced; the MP welcomed the announcement that the Liberal Democrat manifesto commitment of cutting taxes for those on low and middle incomes and raising the poorest workers out of paying Income Tax altogether had been met.
Nick said: “By cutting Income Tax for people on low and middle incomes, over a million of the lowest earners, many of whom are women and part time workers, will be lifted out of paying Income Tax altogether.
“Scrapping Labour’s fuel duty rise goes some way to helping people make ends meet and a firm commitment to taking action on water bills in the South West will further help families and businesses as the country deals with the mess that Labour left our finances in.”
