Extra help for job hunters in Newton Abbot
Job hunters in Newton Abbot are getting extra help finding employment after the launch of a new work club at the Buckland Community Centre, serving Buckland and Milber.
Free weekly sessions starting July 14 held each Thursday morning from 9.30am until noon will offer advice on CV writing, interview techniques, volunteering opportunities and assistance with online applications forms, as well as providing computer access in order to search for vacancies and to learn basic IT skills. They also give job hunters the chance to meet others looking for work, build new contacts and share experiences.
The new project is being run by Devon County Council, in partnership with Devon Adult and Community Learning, South Devon College, Careers South West, Teignbridge District Council, Teign Housing and JobCentre Plus with help from volunteers from nearby businesses and individuals from within the community, enabling those who attend to receive the best combination of specific guidance and local knowledge.
