Deli Shack Food Heroes – Montgomery’s Cheddar by Manor Farm, Somerset
The Montgomery family have been farming in North and South Cadbury for three generations, making their renowned Montgomery’s Cheddar.
At Manor Farm, the cheese is made seven days a week to ensure the freshness of the milk which is produced by the Montgomery’s own herd of 200 Friesian cows.
When Jamie Montgomery inherited the role of cheese master of the family from his mother, the resurgence in the interest in food led to an increase in independent delicatessens and the desire for more knowledge about the food we eat. Jamie is committed to every aspect of the production of his cheese from the quality of the grass that his cows graze through to the taste and texture of the final product.
Multi-award winning, including a gold medal at the World Cheese Awards, this beautiful cheese is the epitome of world class cheese making. Wrapped in muslin and allowed to mature for at least 12 months gives Montgomery cheddar an incredibly smooth creamy flavour with a zesty finish and gentle earthy notes that befit its quality.
