New auctioneers for Exeter Livestock Centre
Kivells & Husseys will take over the running of livestock markets at Exeter Livestock Centre in April 2012, Exeter City Council announced.
The new agreement comes after the city council invited applications from interested parties in May. A number of livestock auctioneers submitted applications and were interviewed to establish the best option for the city council and for the future of Exeter Livestock Centre.
Kivells & Husseys will take over the operating licence for all livestock markets at the Centre when the current agreement with Exeter Market Auctioneers (EMA) expires in April. The city council will continue to directly manage all other activities on the site.
EMA has run livestock auctions in Exeter since 1991 and is a partnership of four auctioneering firms one of whom is Husseys who will continue to operate the markets with Kivells. Kivells already operate livestock markets at Holsworthy, Hallworthy & Liskeard.
