Torbay-based National Wheelchair Dance Sport Association award £6,000 grant
The Wheelchair Dance Sport Association has been awarded a grant of £6,000 from the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales.
The charity, based in Torbay, South Devon, will use the grant to fund volunteer and administrator costs allowing it to continue to run and expand its already successful workshops and demonstrations for people with disabilities and their families, partners and carers.
The charity supports over 1200 people each year across the country from ages 8 to 80. The Wheelchair Dance Sport Association is the only charity to promote and develop wheelchair dancing as a sport and leisure activity on a national scale, providing workshops in a variety of location across the UK.
Sue Cummings, National Coach and Classifier, said, “We have seen a dramatic increase in the number of requests we receive from people across the country wanting to join our workshops and because of this, we have encountered a waiting list. With the grant from Lloyds TSB Foundation we hope to cut this waiting list, offering more workshops in more locations.”
