MEP Giles Chichester to meet with Devon and Cornwall Business Council
Giles Chichester, Conservative MEP for South West England and Gibraltar, will meet with Ben Rhodes, the chief executive of the Devon and Cornwall Business Council, in their offices at Cattedown, Plymouth on Friday, September 20.
MEP Giles Chichester has worked with the council (DCBC) since it was established in 2001 supporting their aims of developing policies to deliver sustainable economic growth for the West Country and also act as an authoritative spokesman for business interests in Devon and Cornwall. He believes the Council plays an influential role in this Region’s economic development through its partnerships with organisations representing some 40,000 SMEs and large enterprises.
Amongst the many important current regional issues with which DCBC is involved, Giles is particularly interested in the progress of the Great Western Rail Franchise, the expansion of broadband services and the progress of the Regional Growth Fund for Devon and Cornwall.
Discussions may also centre upon the Agenda for the European Parliament Plenary Session in October when MEPs will vote on the legislation programme for new EU economic and social policies.
