North Devon MP celebrates 150 years of football in England
Nick Harvey, MP for North Devon, joined The Football Association this week in Parliament to celebrate its 150th anniversary.
Nick told the Devon Week: “Football has come such a long way since that first meeting back in 1863 which created the first laws of the game. Today the game plays a huge part in the lives of millions across the country and it’s always great to see people in North Devon, both young and old, enjoying the game.
“As the first round of the FA Cup kicks off this weekend I know football fans up and down the country will be keeping a close eye on results and dreaming of the final at Wembley in May next year.
“I have been lucky enough to get to three FA Cup finals and the whole competition retains a unique magic and drama, seared into the hearts of all football lovers.”
