North Devon MP meets champions of women’s causes
“I was delighted to have the opportunity to speak with Barnstaple Soroptimists,” says Nick Harvey, MP for North Devon.
“This organisation works tireless as an advocate of female causes, in particular in recent years highlighting the blight that is human trafficking.
“However, their concerns also echo those of North Devon in general in the face of Devon County Council spending cuts.
“One particularly issue is the future of the women’s refuge in Barnstaple, it is vital that all the good work it has achieved is not lost.”
Irene Hockin commenting on the event on 17 February hosted by Barnstaple Hotel said, “I have had much positive feedback from those present, who appreciated your support of our raising awareness to topics that matter to us, in that they affect the lives of women and their children.”
