Radio-head gets dream object thanks to RAMM and a kind visitor
Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) has helped a local collector find his dream object.
Local collector Geoff Stow’s post-Second-World-War radios are currently on display in RAMM’s What Do You Collect? cabinet. The accompanying panel includes a few details to give an indication of collector’s passion and the breadth of their collection and Geoff mentioned his dream object: a B&O FM Portable from the early 70s.
This lead to a kind visitor, Roger Brandon, offering to fulfil his dream. A joyous Geoff said: “Thank you so much… You are right: this is my dream object and it will be the centrepiece of my little collection along with the PYE designed by Robin Day.”
The Radio display, along with its new centrepiece, will be in the Finders Keepers? gallery until September 21. This display will be followed by a collection of artefacts from the First World War, starting on October 14.
