Future Olympic hopeful Chris Glover receives boost from builders merchant
Target pistol shooter Chris Glover has picked up some sponsorship from RGB Building Supplies to help further his ambition to represent Great Britain at both the Olympic and Commonwealth Games
Chris, age 16, is currently studying for his A’ Levels at Petroc’s Barnstaple campus. He began pistol shooting in 2012 and while representing the Devon Scout Team at the Scout Inter County competition, caught the eye of the Great Britain Junior Pistol Squad.
Most recently, Chris represented Great Britain in the Junior International competition, which took place at the home of UK shooting in Bisley, Surrey.
He competed against shooters from other countries, including America, Germany and South Africa and gained valuable experience.
Chris took lessons learnt from this competition into the Welsh Open Airgun championship, where he made it to both finals. He is also hoping to go on to compete in the Netherlands in February.
Chris, who lives with his family in Snapper, Barnstaple, said:
“Like many sports, being a pistol shooter is not cheap and I would like to say a big thank you to RGB Building Supplies for their support; the sponsorship will be a great help.”
Rob Allen, Operations Manager at RGB Building Supplies, said: “We fully recognise that young sportsmen and women face a number of challenges in pursuing their sporting ambitions and it’s important to us to support talented people local to us. We truly believe that Chris has a bright future ahead of him and are pleased to be able to support him with this sponsorship.”
