Patrick Gale author signing at Waterstones Exeter High Street
Cornwall-based author Patrick Gale, will be popping into Waterstones Exeter High Street as he launches his new book A Place Called Winter.
Patrick is best known for his contemporary novels. His last two have been set in Cornwall – A Perfectly Good Man and probably his most famous Notes from an Exhibition.
The germ of the idea for the new book came from an episode in Patrick’s family history, when an ancestor mysteriously moved to Canada. Patrick has taken this idea and woven it into a story following Harry Cane. We find out what causes him to leave a happy family life in Strawberry Hill and make the move to the hard pioneering life in Canada. Once in Canada, further events unfold including World War 1.
The event on Friday. April 3 will be starting at 7pm with doors opening at 6.30pm. Patrick will introduce and read from the book and answer audience questions.
Tickets will be £3, redeemable against the price of the book on the night.
