The Heathfield landfill site will produce more energy from the burning of landfill gas with the installation of two new engines.
This will put the site’s total energy generating capacity to 2.64mw, or the equivalent of powering nearly 5,000 homes.
Viridor Waste Management, which run the site, already supply electricity to the National Grid through burning landfill gas.
