Plymouth’s St Andrew’s church awarded Ministry status will become awarded the title of Ministry as part of the 1100th anniversary of the Exeter Diocese celebrations.
St Andrew’s church, whose historic role in the city stretches back to 1087 and has been associated with Catherine of Aragon, Sir Francis Drake, Sir John Hawkins, the Pilgrim Fathers, Captain Bligh of the Bounty and Sir Francis Chichester.
And it was a ‘remarkable inspiration’ during the Second World War, with its motto “I will rise again” became popular during the Blitz.
It will be the only Minister in the area.
