A fire that burnt nearly two acres of heathland near Teignmouth during the evening of Saturday, February 28 has been put down to arsonists.
Teignmouth station commander Ian Radford told the Herald Express: “It was a difficult fire to deal with because it was dark and on uneven terrain. It is possible it was started deliberately or by people using fireworks because we found some at the scene.”
No one was injured.
