Unpaid council tax, business rates and rents to the tune of £500,000 have been written off by South Hams District Council.
“We do all that we can to ensure that we recover all money owing to us. However, in some circumstances, it’s not possible or financially viable to pursue the debt. This may happen when someone has died or a business has gone bankrupt,” Mark Seymour, strategic director (resources), told the Herald Express.
