A fire engine from Appledore put out a suspected arson attack on a speed camera in Northam.
The camera on Lakenham Hill had two rubber tyres placed on top it, and set alight.
A police spokesperson told the North Devon Gazette: “Some form of accelerant was used to ignite the tyres. The fire caused damage to the camera housing although the camera itself is still functioning.”
The fire is being investigated by the Safety Camera Partnership.
