Conservative Shadow Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt has called for the tourism industry to shed its Fawlty Towers image, and maintain across-the-board high standards, much to the annoyance of Torbay MP Adrian Sanders, who said Mr Hunt’s comments were ‘an insult to hard-working small businesses’.
Mr Sanders said: “I don’t know of any Fawlty Towers in Torbay and I haven’t known one for years. This is just talking the industry down and it is a massive insult to small businesses working in a competitive industry who take massive risks to improve what they offer.”
