“The Euro-elections offer a wonderful opportunity for people to vote for Cornwall,” said Dick Cole of Mebyon Kernow, Cornwall’s main nationalist party. The European Parliamentary constituency of the South West includes Bristol, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire, as well as the island of Gibraltar, so the appeal for Dick’s party may be limited to the tenth of the electorate that actually live in Cornwall.
But they say they will campaign for an individual European constituency for Cornwall, and are putting up the most canditates possible to achieve it – six.
The European Elections take place on June 4, along with county council elections.
