Although the majority of pensioners have claimed their concessionary bus pass, few of them use it regularly, according to an Exeter Senior Voice survey (From South West Business).
Exeter Senior Voice, a group of people aged over 50 and living in Exeter, which is organised by Age Concern, has highlighted some of its concerns regarding the bus pass scheme.
These include ‘confusing variations in time limits for using our passes; apparently inadequate Government grants causing bus companies further to increase their fares; problems about accessibility of buses for frail passengers or those hindered by parcels or baggage; safety in negotiating handles inside the bus, particularly at stops; taking full account of opinions and suggestions made by Bus User Associations’.
