In last Thursday’s (October 22) Westminster Hall debate on the Licensing Act 2003, Teign MP Richard Younger-Ross raised the issue of tied pubs and the problems this can have on some of the UK’s pub landlords.
Mr Younger-Ross who is a supporter of CAMRA’s campaign to reform the beer tie said there is evidence to show that in some cases the arrangement can lead to pub closures. He was critical of the OFT report and believes that further action needs to be taken to address this ‘unfair’ system.
