The Devon hunt season got under way with more than 50 horese and riders taking to the Hills of East Devon.
Since the Hunting Act came into being, in the South West there has been just three prosecutions and no pack of hounds has been lost.
Speaking at the hunt at Rockbeare Manor, where huntsmen and women followed the East Devon Hunt’s trail, on Saturday, October 31, Countryside Alliance spokesperson Alison Hawes said: “Hunting is probably holding its own. The good thing is that here in the South West we have not lost one single pack of hounds. Support is strong and people are very optimistic.”
