Last month Christmas card designs in their hundreds arrived at Richard Younger-Ross’s office, each participant hoping to be the winner of his 2009 Christmas Card Competition.
The MP invited Teignbridge primary schools to design a picture for the front cover of his card on the theme of Giving. The designs were judged by sculptor Dr Am Afifi, and for the first time this year a verse competition was opened up to secondary schools. Pupils were invited to produce a piece of prose or verse on the theme of Giving and the successful entry, judged by award-winning children’s author Alan Gibbons, appears on the inside front cover.
Richard told the Devon Week: “This is another fantastic year and I want to say a very big thank you to all the children who took part in the competition with special thanks to the judges for their invaluable contribution and to the sponsors for their continuing support: Bookers, Austins, Tesco and Pizza café.”
Over the next two weeks, Richard will be visiting the schools to hand out certificates and prizes.
