Christmas at Living Coasts is all about penguins. This season at Torquay’s coastal zoo you will be able to buy penguins, spend penguins and feed penguins.
As well as Christmas crafts and penguin refreshments, each child will be given a bucket of fish to give to the free-ranging African and macaroni penguins.
Santa Experiences take place at Living Coasts on December 5 and 6, 12 and 13, 19 and 20, 21, 22 and 23. Tickets are £10 for children over 3, £8 for adults and £6 for zoo members. Places are limited so booking is essential.
In addition, a new currency is being launched – the Penguin Pound. Penguin Pounds are gift vouchers that can be bought in the Living Coasts shop and exchanged there, in the cafe and around the site. Living Coasts spokesperson Phil Knowling said: “Forget the pound, the dollar and the yen – the Penguin Pound is the currency of the moment!” The penguin pound currently has parity with sterling.
Other Christmas activities will include an Ice-Spy Super Sleuth Trail and – on Saturday, December 26 and Sunday, December 27 – husky dog encounters. There will also be special offers in the shop and cafe.
Living Coasts is a registered charity. For more information go to the Living Coasts site or ring 01803 202470.
