The Devon Wildlife Trust has this launched an appeal to raise funds to train full time volunteers to help conserve Devon’s wildlife havens.
The first group of three volunteers joined the Trust in October, and they have been working hard over the winter season improving some of the county’s wildlife sites. Each week they learn how to manage a range of habitats such as heathland, woodland or rare Culm grassland.
It costs about £12,000 to equip, train and support the estate team each year – the money raised will help pay for our volunteers to gain licenses to use specialist tools and machinery which they use to manage the sites.
