One of the Top Gear TV show’s latest stunts has involved chucking a Citroen car converted into a camper van off the steep rock face at the quay of the picturesque coastal village, according to thisisnorthdevon.
Council tenants in the South Hams are being offered financial incentives to downsize. The BBC reports that tenants in social rented housing will get £1,000 plus £500 for every bedroom released when they downsize to a smaller property.
The new mayor at Bideford hopes to give the town ‘a bit of TLC’ as he takes on his role. Cllr Philip Pester, who has been deputy mayor for the past year, told the North Devon Gazette: “Some areas have been done, but there are still a lot left to tidy up. “I hope we can give Bideford a bit of TLC.”
A North Devon-based Swiss chocolatier has been proving a taste sensation to chocolate lovers from all over the South West. Carlo Melchior of Melcior Chocolates provides between 80 and 100 different type of chocolates to delis and cafes from his South Molton base, and has been drawing chocolate lovers from throughout the South West to his North Devon store.
A North Devon Councillor who moved to Wales five months ago says he can still represent his constituents, despite living 160 miles away. Councillor John Wilsher told thisisnorthdevon: “Those people who are aware know I have always worked hard on the council. My phone number is available and I’m quite often in Barnstaple.” He says he won’t be standing in the next election.
