Torbay Council could use compulsory purchase powers to buy property in Brixham to free up space for a £1.5 million traffic flow proposal.
The Conservative Lib Dem pact doesn’t extend to Torbay, despite calls from Tory election candidate Marcus Wood calling on the Lib Dems not to contest the mayoral election. Torbay’s leader of Lib Dems Steve Darling said the Lib Dems would field a candidate in next year’s mayoral election. Despite the coalition of the Conservatives and the Lib Dems in Westminister, he said: “In reality, in local politics it’s no change.”
