A £300 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of vandals who wrecked two play areas in Exeter.
Exeter City Council’s lead councillor for Environment described the vandalism at Salmonpool Lane and Harrington Lane as “despicable and mindless.”
“We would urge anyone who has any information on these crimes to contact the police. A lot of children enjoy these play areas and what these vandals have done is despicable and mindless. These are selfish actions which should be brought to task,” he said.
Soft play area surfaces were ripped from the ground at both play areas last weekend. The cost of the damage is estimated to be around £8,000.
“What these people fail to realise is that they are only making matters worse for themselves. These are public facilities paid for by public money – either their money or their parents money. In these tough financial times we only have so much money to go around and this sort of selfish vandalsim doesn’t help matters. You don’t have to be a genius to work that out!”
Anyone who has any information about the two incidents should contact the police on 0845 277444, quoting
