Exeter City Council’s My Neighbourhood project has now provided a new way for communities and local people to come together online.
My Neighbourhood discussion forums are now available online for the eight areas the project runs in and to ensure other communities are not left out there is also a general discussion forum.
Dawn Rivers, of Exeter City Council, said: “The forums are another way for people to get involved in their area. We know that some people due to patterns of work, childcare needs or disabilities don’t get to attend meetings. We really want those people to feel part of their communities and be able to take an active role in what goes on in their area. By providing an online space we hope to create virtual communities.”
The discussion forums are available for anyone in the community to promote their events or activities or to start a discussion about an issue they feel needs to be addressed.
The council’s area liaison officers, Police beat officers and community support officers are making sure that details of community meetings, street briefings and events are included on the forums.
To take part you will need to register your details on the My Neighbourhood forums – going to www.exeter.gov.uk/myneighbourhoodpact for more.
