Foodie fans in Devon will be in for a treat this October as von Essen celebrates becoming the collection of hotels with the most Michelin starred properties in the UK by taking three of its Michelin starred chefs on tour to Devon.
Shane Hughes from Ynyshir Hall in Wales, Mark Teasdale from Sharrow Bay on Lake Ullswater and Nigel Mendham from The Samling on Lake Windermere will pack up their stars and take them on the road as they showcase the best of British cuisine using the finest ingredients from Devon.
The event, which will run for five days between Monday, October 25 and Friday, October 29, will visit Lewtrenchard Manorm near Okehampton on Monday, October 25.
The dinner menu is priced at £70 and the lunch menu priced at £40 with both including complementary matching wine provided by the iconic Cloudy Bay.
Although each chef shares the philosophy of using the finest produce, they each have their own distinctive style, which will produce a rare and exciting collaboration at Lewtrenchard Manor. The chefs have created a special tasting dinner and a three course tasting lunch menu, which feature a selection of each chef’s signature dishes.
Cloudy Bay wines will be expertly paired with each dish to produce a culinary marriage made in heaven. Each of the meals will be accompanied by a selection of the vintages, as well as a talk from a Cloudy Bay expert.
Executive head chef at von Essen, James Parkinson, told the Devon Week: “We are delighted to be the collection with the largest number of Michelin starred properties and AA Rosettes in the UK. Bringing together three of our top chefs to showcase their culinary expertise will make for a perfect week long celebration.”
