Representatives from key alcohol awareness groups, health services and the Police will gather on Friday, October 22, as part of Alcohol Awareness Week 2010. The event will take place at Bedford Square from 11.30 am until 2pm.
Alcohol treatment service providers Addaction and Ysmart will be on hand to provide information and advice tackling the health and behavioural issues linked with the misuse of alcohol. They will also be running a ‘mocktail’ bar demonstrating how delicious non-alcoholic cocktails can be a great alternative to alcoholic beverages.
The Health Service, Police, Fire Service and road safety organisations will also be present to demonstrate the pressure put on these organisations due to alcohol related incidents across the city.
This year’s Alcohol Awareness Week has focused on the misuse of alcohol by young people. Workshops have been taking place in a number of schools across the city, in partnership with the Police, ambulance crews and the fire service.
