Devon County Council is urging motor cycle safety and asking drivers to think bike during the winter.
The safety message is also being extended to motorcyclists, with the county council asking bikers to ride with care during the darker commuter hours.
Bikers are seen as highly vulnerable during winter because road conditions are more hazardous, and drivers have to contend with additional factors such as misty or frozen mirrors and windscreens.
Six motorcyclists were killed on Devon’s roads in 2009. Despite only making up around 1 per cent of all traffic in the region, motorcyclists accounted for around a fifth of those killed on Devon’s roads.
