Volunteers gathered at Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve for a special early morning bird watch and thank you event arranged by Teignbridge District Council.
The event was organised by the council to bring together all the volunteers who have helped at practical events, as well as manning the Warren’s visitor centre, to thank them for all their hard work over the past year.
Volunteers are a key part of the day-to-day running of the Nature Reserve and assist Teignbridge Council Rangers in a number of ways including: looking after the Visitor Centre; informing the public about the important bird flocks on site and helping to protect the birds; and helping with some of the practical tasks involved in running a nature reserve such as fencing and pond clearance.
Anybody who would like to know more about the Reserve or would like to get involved in helping to look after local wildlife can contact Teignbridge’s Green Spaces team on 01626 215751 or email [email protected]. No previous experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and an interest in people and wildlife.
