Passenger facilities at 13 bus stops in the Highweek and Churcombe Valley areas of Newton Abbot are being given a £40,000 upgrade. Raised bus boarders will be installed to make the height of the pavement level with the bus floor.
Councillor Stuart Hughes, Devon County Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation, said: “These improvements will provide passengers with better access to buses, particularly for people with mobility difficulties and for parents with young children. Care is being taken throughout the work to minimise any potential impact while maximising the benefit to bus passengers.”
Bus services will not be interrupted and work is scheduled to be completed by the end of March.
