Torbay MP Adrian Sanders has welcomed the announcement that new direct train services from the North of the UK will be coming to Torbay from May.
The services, run by Crosscountry, will see two extra trains leave Torbay every Saturday and two direct services will arrive from Leeds and Glasgow. They will run throughout the summer season and will enable holidaymakers from across the country better access to one of the South West’s prime resorts.
Adrian said: “This is fantastic news for the tourist industry. A few years ago the last Government took away direct train services from the North of the country, which really deterred holidaymakers who will be carrying a lot of luggage and won’t want to change trains often.
“is very good to see the current Government rectifying this wrong and boosting Torbay’s economy.”
