Mid Devon District Council has adopted a new community housing strategy to take them up to 2015.
The strategy points covers topics, including homelessness, affordable housing, private sector housing and supporting vulnerable people.
The council put the strategy together through consultation with partners which began and it all started with a vision day in July 2010.
This latest affordable housing scheme at Quarry Court, Chapel Street, Tiverton is being developed by Westcountry Housing (a member of Westward Housing Group) and consists of seven one-bedroom flats and five two-bedroom flats with parking.
The site and the house in Chapel Street had been vacant for many years and was formerly used as a taxi business. Mid Devon District Council and the Home and Communities Agency have invested £960,000 in this project.
