Exeter City Council announced that it is seeking a livestock auctioneer for Exeter Livestock Centre when a current agreement with the present auctioneers expires in April 2012.
Exeter Livestock Centre is the largest livestock market in Devon and has been operated by Exeter Market Auctioneers for the last 20 years. They will continue to operate markets until their agreement expires.
The council approved plans for officers to negotiate with parties interested in a lease and agreement to operate livestock sales at the centre when the present agreement expires.
Exeter City Council will advertise shortly for expressions of interest.
The site is also home to Hussey’s Car Auction Centre, the South West’s largest Sunday Car Boot Sale and Market, Antiques Fairs, Flea Markets, Dog Shows and numerous exhibitions. All of these will all remain unaffected by a new lease.
