Adam Hart Davis will officially open Cricklepit Mill’s new hydro scheme this month with a free public event as part of National Science and Engineering Week.
Work to install the turbine at the headquarters of the Devon Wildlife Trust in Exeter began last summer. The turbine has a 5kW rated capacity and is set to meet most of the charity’s electricity needs during the working week and any excess power produced over weekends and evenings will be sold back to the national grid.
The event will be held on Friday, March 11 and starts at noon. The public are invited to come along on the day and meet the special guest Adam Hart-Davis, find out more about the science behind the hydro plus see the turbine in action.
There will be guided tours of Cricklepit Mill on the day, but you need to book in advance – contacting Devon Wildlife Trust on 01392 279244 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
