Teignbridge and Torridge District Councils have been recognised for outstanding public service delivery at the Local Government Chronicle Annual Awards Evening 2011.
The councils, which share a chief executive and have been at the forefront of shared services and joint working for the past 18 months, were finalists in the Council of the Year (Teignbridge) and Most Improved Council of the Year (Torridge) categories at the Local Government Chronicle Annual Awards Evening 2011.
Final results at local governments ‘Oscars’ saw Torridge narrowly missing out on first place but receiving a Highly Commended in its category of Most Improved Council of the Year.
Torridge was one of only eight councils nationwide and the only one in Devon to be shortlisted.
South Hams and West Devon was up for a combined Innovation Award.
