A dance school based at Culm Valley Sports Centre performs well at regional Ballet Awards
Ten dancers aged from 7 to 17 years travelled to the Congress Theatre, Cwmbran, Wales to take part in the annual Wales and West Cecchetti Classical Ballet Awards.
This is the third time dancers from the Marisa Wood School of Dance, who have classes at the Culm Valley Sports Centre, Cullompton, have attended the competition.
This year Molly Bannister and Bethany Armand in the Junior Section and Hannah Porter in the Senior Section were all awarded medals of commendation. The other girls who went were Charlotte Broom, Marnie Collins, Jasmine Sanders, Elisha Stuckey, Sophie Ellis, Ruth Berkley, and Tabitha Collins There were about 80 competitors and as always the standard was very high.
Their teacher Mrs Bartlett said: “I am thrilled and delighted with all the girls’ performances especially as many of the girls had been nervous about taking part in the competition.”
The Culm Valley Sports Centre offers an excellently equipped dance studio with sprung-floor, mirrors and ballet bar for classes which are held on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings.
