Torbay MP Adrian Sanders will be officially opening the Diabetes UK ‘Torbay Walk’ on Sunday, June 12 to raise funds for national diabetes week.
The two mile circular walk begins at 11am from Paignton Sands and will take in the views of Paignton Harbour and Roundham Head.
Diabetes UK hopes to raise £200,000 during diabetes week to expand its Careline information and support service, which helps the 224,000 people in the South West who have been diagnosed with diabetes.
People can register for the event for £5 (children go free) by calling 01823 324 007, emailing south.west@diabetes.org.uk or turning up on the day from 10.30am.
Adrian said: “Diabetes UK provide an exceptional service to hundreds of Torbay diabetics and the Torbay Walk is a great way to support the work they are doing and raise awareness for it.”
