Work on long-awaited new flood defences for the village of Teigngrace could start within months following news that Teignbridge District Council has successfully secured a £150,000 grant for the scheme.
The Environment Agency released the funding on approving the new flood management scheme designed by the council as technically viable.
Historically Teigngrace has suffered flooding over a number of years, and continues to be at risk from the Ventiford Brook.
