Exeter’s community-owned Real Food Store is celebrating its shortlisting for the prestigious ‘Best Independent Food Retailer’ Award in the Food Reader Awards 2016.
The Real Food Store’s mission is to supply fresh local food to local people in the city and offers a range of fresh, baked, and store cupboard essentials as well as operating a popular café.
As one of the three finalists in the category the store will be going head to head against butchers Philip Warren, Cornwall and Stein’s Deli in Padstow. Finalists were decided by 110,000 reader votes in 13 categories and two rounds of voting.
Speaking about the nomination, Lois Gallimore, one of the store’s co-managers said: “We are delighted by the news that we’ve been shortlisted.
“It’s really satisfying that our customers appreciate the great produce our suppliers offer and have taken the time to vote for us for such a prestigious award.”
