Costa Coffee opened in Credition the High Street on Saturday, March 18, with Town Mayor and Crediton Youth Theatre.
Councillor Frank Letch, Town Mayor of Crediton said: “I am delighted to be opening the new Costa coffee store here in Crediton. The new store will not only create new jobs but will also provide another great reason for local people to visit our town. I wish store manager Kevin Hurn and his staff every success.”
In addition, the Costa team also welcomed members of Crediton Youth Theatre to the new store and presented them with a cheque for £500 towards their summer production of ‘Hopping Mad’, which has been commissioned by Crediton Arts Centre for the town’s summer festival in June. The store team also intends to get involved in the town’s Flag Project alongside many other businesses and organisations in Crediton.

Rosemary Stephenson, manager of Crediton Arts Centre and chair of Crediton Town Team said: “Crediton Arts Centre is very proud of our talented Youth Theatre so I’m delighted that Costa has offered to support their outdoor production of Hopping Mad, which will be the centrepiece of the Festival. The Town Team is also looking forward to the Costa team getting involved with our popular Flag Project and helping to decorate the town this summer.”
Julian Burton, Costa’s Operations Manager said: “We’re so pleased that the Mayor of Crediton, chair of Crediton Town Team Rosemary Stephenson and the Crediton Youth Theatre could join us for the official opening of our new store.
“We want to imbed ourselves as part of the community and what better way to do that than involve ourselves with the young people of the town. As well as providing financial support for Crediton Youth Theatre, we will also get involved in a number of other community initiatives in the town and look forward to welcoming residents and visitors alike to enjoy the Costa experience with us.”
The opening of the new 1,800 sq. ft store in Crediton follows the successful opening last month of Costa franchise partner Jurassic Coast Coffee’s Ilfracombe store on 18th February. The new Crediton store will be managed by local man Kevin Hurn, who has previously worked at several other Costa coffee shops operated by Jurassic Coast Coffee in Devon, including Tiverton and Teignmouth. He has been eagerly awaiting the opening of the new store in Crediton and has a great passion for providing the best customer service teamed with the nation’s favourite coffee.
Store manager Kevin said: “The new Costa Coffee will become a focal point for people visiting Crediton to come and experience great coffee in a friendly and relaxed environment. The whole team is looking forward to welcoming the people of Crediton to our new Costa, which we hope will quickly become a key part of the local community.”
Costa is creating employment for a total of eight local people at the Crediton store, all of whom have been provided with comprehensive barista training to be able to serve customers with Costa’s full range of delicious coffees, using the Ferrari of coffee machines that Costa employs throughout all its stores.
7,000 ‘Buy One Get One Free’ vouchers have been distributed to households in and around Crediton in the lead up to the opening.
